Crazy Heat on first day of shooting, fans on camera, exhaustion in the air as the unflagging cast panted in the dark. There is something of a Cleopatra & Titania, Queen of the Faries, Midsummer Night’s Dream quality in the script: a very hot Halloween.

We had to stop on Friday. The old, grey heads of producer and director knocked together in the morning, what can be done, what’s best, what we must do? Production halts. Scenes shift through public house and private garden, from beer to rose wine.

Plans relaid on weekend. Re-budget for cast and crew – funding arrives – as DoP, Lou can have her people and kit, we can finish the shoot in style.

An important scene captured on the first day, with the efforts of 1st Camera, Callan and Chris as gaffer, (Ciaran was sound / clappersticks / AD) our expectations are significantly raised,
and the aim now is to complete filming early September.

It’s a roller coaster.
